Limit/overflow of controversy

Installation consisting of 42 pieces created with Waterless Photolithography technique, electronic circuit plates and an object made up of an electronic circuit plate and papers extracted from digital screens that diffract and modify the vision. Project developed during an art residency in Proyecto ´ace.

Concept

The project delves into the biological, technological and social transversalities that interfere in the development of individual's subjectivity. Subjectivity constitutes the basis for existence and the content that defines us. It is a dynamic entity through which we think, dream, feel, desire and perceive the world around us. Is there a possibility for the development of subjectivity inside the current parameters of the digital era?

The constantly growing digitalisation of life is being generating a mutation of our human condition. In our contemporary, the rise of the visual and the proliferation of images establish an era of visuality. In this way, technology becomes a key factor of the socio-cultural formation of individuals, and screens develop into the legitimate medium of the regime of truth.

In a world with a predominance of digital interactions, with a controversial rise of visuality, and screens mediated relationships, where does the intangible of existence lay? Does the possibility to develop subjectivity exists inside the technological sphere we are immersed in? Can splits in the digitalization of life be generated to become fertile ground for human consciousness and sensitivity to emerge? These inquires explore the contemporary circumstantial clash between limit and overflow.

Electronic circuits, stares and synapse, an attempt to sketch out the idea of the development of subjectivity within the binary code spheres, playing within and beyond its limits through the neuronal, through a psyque that is not subjected to the limit and that timidly seeks to branch beyond it. A portrayal of the new normal of the human condition; where people’s presence in the world is substantiated less in physical interactions and far more in the digital spheres.

City that speaks of relationships between individuals.
Individuals that constitute societies.
Societies interacting through digital devices.
Digital devices with screens that transmit data in the form of images.
Data that establish the era of the technical image: "virtualities concretised and made visible".
Virtualities that modify our being in the world.
